T.G.I.F.

On Fridays, we complete our weekly assessments.  When we are finished, we enjoy having a brain break with fun stations.  We love Fridays!

ELA Stations

I teach whole group reading for the first 30 minutes of class.  Afterwards, we begin small group stations where students practice skills for the week.

Station 1 is Technology.  We use ClassWorks, BrainPop, and many more educational websites to practice our reading skill for the week.

Station 2 is ELA.  We practice our spelling and vocabulary skills for the week.  Also, we use SpellingCity.com to build our phonics skills.

Station 3 is A.R.  Students read their Accelerated Reader books during this time either independently or with a buddy.  We keep a list of who has read the most words for third grade...it really keeps them motivated!

Station 4 is Teacher Station. At teacher station, I introduce and review our reading and vocabulary skill for the week.  We also use this time to practice finding text evidence.

First Day of School!

I am so excited to meet my new sweeties for the 2015-2016 school year. This is just a few of them because I am actually teaching Reading/ELA for the entire third grade!  We had a wonderful first day back at school!

Hip, Hip, Hooray! It's the 100th Day!

We had so much fun celebrating the 100th day of school!  It was very interesting to see all of the creative artists in my classroom!  I found the 100th day art activity here. We also enjoyed our 100 items of trail mix for snack!

Christmas Fun!

We made predictions about what snowmen do at night.  After reading "Snowmen at Night", we were shocked that some of our silly predictions were correct! We enjoyed painting our snowmen ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree.  Also, we created unique snowmen to display in our classroom.  I found the ornament idea here and the snowman art instructions here.   Merry Christmas!

I absolutely LOVE how each snowman turned out as beautiful and unique as my sweeties!
